معاناة تتحدى الوصف بعد 12 عاما من الصراع في سوريا
“معاناة السوريين تتحدى الوصف.” هكذا بدأ أمين عام الأمم المتحدة كلمة وجهها لمؤتمر دولي لحشد الدعم للسوريين الذين ما زالوا يعانون من صراع مستمر منذ اثني عشر عاما.
وأشار الأمين العام أنطونيو غوتيريش إلى أن 9 من كل 10 سوريين يعيشون تحت خط الفقر. وقال إن أكثر من 15 مليون سوري، أي 70% من إجمالي عدد السكان، يحتاجون إلى المساعدات الإنسانية.
جاء ذلك في رسالة مصورة أرسلها الأمين العام لمؤتمر بروكسل السنوي السابع لدعم مستقبل سوريا والمنطقة الذي ينظمه الاتحاد الأوروبي.
وقد أدى الصراع السوري إلى مصرع نحو 500 ألف شخص وتشريد أكثر من 12 مليونا. وفيما وصلت الاحتياجات الإنسانية لأعلى مستوياتها، ضربت الزلازل المدمرة المنطقة لتفاقم الوضع.
وتبلغ تكلفة النداء الإنساني لسوريا، وهو الأكبر على مستوى العالم، 11.1 مليار دولار.

Suffering defies description after 12 years of conflict in Syria
The suffering of the Syrians defies description. This is how the Secretary-General of the United Nations began his speech to an international conference to mobilize support for the Syrians who are still suffering from a conflict that has been going on for twelve years.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres indicated that 9 out of 10 Syrians live below the poverty line. He said that more than 15 million Syrians, or 70 percent of the total population, need humanitarian assistance.
This came in a video message sent by the Secretary-General to the Seventh Annual Brussels Conference to Support the Future of Syria and the Region, which is organized by the European Union.
The Syrian conflict has killed about 500,000 people and displaced more than 12 million. And while humanitarian needs reached their highest levels, devastating earthquakes hit the region, exacerbating the situation.
The humanitarian appeal for Syria, the largest in the world, costs $11.1 billion.
